The rice fields of Saint-Gilles
The only region in France to cultivate rice fields, the Camargue is shaped by its production. And it's in the heart of the Saint-Gilles marshes that you'll find over 30 hectares of rice fields! The rice paddies are part of the Camargue landscape for almost eight months of the year.
From watering the fields in April, through sowing in May, to harvesting the rice in autumn, rice cultivation must follow these different stages! So, whether you prefer round, half-long, very long, whole-grain, white, black, red or fragrant rice, the choice is yours!
Growing vines in Saint-Gilles
The soil and climate of Saint-Gilles are ideal for growing vineyards which benefit from exceptional sunshine, mild winters and two rainy periods.
All these climatic factors contribute to the production of quality wines belonging to the "Costières de Nîmes" appellation.

Located in front of the Abbey of Saint-Gilles, the Maison des Vins brings together 11 winemakers offering their AOP Costières de Nîmes wines from Saint-Gilles vineyards .

Very present on our territory, the famous "Picholine"a small, fruity olive with an intense fruity taste and juicy pulp, is considered the green gold of of our region. Shis cultivation, its taste ands multiples virtues at have earned it the designation ofAOC and PDO designations.
The estate grows 7 varieties of olives, harvested at different levels of ripeness: fruity green, turning, ripe black or old-fashioned.

Peaches, cherries, kiwis but above all apricots, these are the fruits grown on Saint-Gillois soil. ! Sith agricultural landscapes that change with the seasonsthe region offers us orchards lined with flowers in a thousand colors at spring and ripe ripefruit with luscious flesh at harvest time!
