The second-largest collection in Languedoc Roussillon, the Musée des Beaux-arts showcases French, Flemish, Dutch and Italian paintings.

Among its 3,600 works are a collection of 16th and 17th century Italian art and a fine collection of 19th century French art.

On the first floor, a large Roman mosaic, "The Wedding of Admetus", occupies the central part of the atrium. It was discovered in the 19th century on the site of the covered market.

Two monumental statues by Henri Bouchard frame the access staircase to this superb museum, built in 1907 and refurbished and enhanced in 1987 by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
