Caveirac's heritage
The Town Hall
Caveirac's town hall is a listed historic monument, notably for its 17th-century banister. The park, designed by Le Nôtre, features century-old trees offering shade on hot summer days.
Caveirac's Taurobolic Altar: A Roman Curiosity
At the entrance to the Hôtel de Ville, you'll find a taurobolic altar dating back to the 3rd century AD. This large limestone stone was used for bull sacrifices. The Latin inscription indicates that it commemorates a sacrifice performed on behalf of the colony of Nîmes in honor of the goddess Cybele.
Le Château
The Château de Caveirac, built in the 17th century by Jacques de Boisson, now houses the town hall. Nicknamed the "Little Versailles" of Languedoc, it comprises 118 rooms and 365 windows.
The Orangery
Built in 1699 by Pierre de Sartre, the Orangerie was transformed into a market garden before becoming the foyer communal and the arena in 1982.
Le Lavoir du Pont
This vestige of the bugadières era is the only remaining washhouse in the commune. It was restored in 2019 after ceasing to function in 1960.
The Terminal
At the entrance to the village hall stands a 2-meter-high milestone, transported from the Via Domitia in the 15th century.
Monument aux Morts
This monument, designed by Mérignargues and Chabert, commemorates the soldiers of the 20th century conflicts. It features a soldier clutching a flag and an obelisk decorated with bas-reliefs.
Saint Adrien Church
Remodeled in the 17th century, Saint Adrien's church retains some features of Romanesque architecture. The steeple houses a bell dated 1687.
Temple
Built in 1867, the church features a green marble pulpit from the château. It is topped by a wrought-iron campanile built in 1927.
Media library
