Marguerittes
The commune of Marguerittes has brought this site back to life, restoring the garrigue landscape to its former glory. Since 2002, a 1.9 km trail has been open to the public.
This walk not only conceals marvels of construction, but also a conservatory of olive tree species located on a high point with a breathtaking view. A nature trail to discover olive trees and mysterious capitelles. Here's a nice place for a Sunday stroll with a bit of culture: La Combe des Bourguignons . This magnificent heritage was revealed by the unfortunate chance of a fire in 1989, which ravaged the hills surrounding Marguerittes, a commune just a few kilometers from Nîmes. This nonetheless led to the discovery of a series of capitelles and dry-stone constructions built by the famous Rachalans between the 17th and 18th centuries. After many years of rehabilitation, replanting trees and refurbishing damaged structures, in 2002 the Marguerittes commune created a really well-designed interpretation circuit with some forty panels explaining the evolution of the garrigue and the work of the Rachalans... PLEASE NOTE: At the entrance to the site, there is a parking lot and a shaded picnic area. This trail is accessible to all (approx. 2 kilometers), but there are a few areas where you'll have to stray from the route with a slight gradient.
