Le Bois des Noyers

Large green area closest to the south of the city centre of Nîmes.

The walnut wood is located near the actiparc Georges Besse, south of Nîmes. It was inaugurated very recently, on 21 February 2020.

The existence of this wood dates back to 1998, when more than 700 trees were planted by the CRPF (regional forestry protection committee) in an experimental process to observe the growth of the trees planted.

Walnut trees are not the only species present in the wood, since alders and poplars are also found there, but this particularity naturally led to its being named "walnut wood".

This new natural area extends over almost 10 hectares and offers several possibilities of activities to its new users. You can walk around, relax and discover the biodiversity of the different areas that make it up. Numerous facilities have also been made available to the public for sporting activities: volleyball, pétanque, weight training, table tennis... Finally, you can picnic on site, thanks to the tables provided for this purpose, or directly by spreading your tablecloth on the ground, in one of the site's meadows.
